What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? Does one prepare you better over the other? Thanks!

Essentially they are the same, that's why they are both physicians. The difference is that M.D. is more traditional and as such is  more trusted, however, D.O.'s learn all the same things in med school as M.D.'s. They also get to learn how to do some manipulative medicine however, and typically are taught to practice in a more wholistic way. As far as applying to school, M.D. programs are typically a little harder to get into, and D.O. schools will replace a retaken class with the new grade on your transcript, where as M.D. schools average the two. I hope that all of this is accurate, if not please someone who knows more please help.
