My earliest thought of dentistry occurred growing up and witnessing a whole community using sticks cut from trees to clean their teethes. Although there has been a substantial overall decline in the incidence of poverty in Ghana, poverty still has a firm grip on rural areas, especially where I grew up; chronic food insecurity is widespread and livelihoods are more vulnerable. Poor rural people have limited access to basic social services, safe water, basic medical necessities, to name a few. Even at a young age I knew this chewing sticks weren’t safe as the fluid from this sticks are swallowed not spat out. I began asking questions and eventually came across a family friend, a dentist from Russia but practicing in the City. He realized how curious I was about the microbial properties in chewing stick and was really fascinated. He asked me to join him in the city to work in his clinic. I shouted yes, but I knew it was going to be hard as I couldn’t communicate in the language common to the people so I spent an enormous amount of time learning different languages. Within a few years I could communicate fluently in six different native languages. I enjoyed every minute I spent with patients.  Observing the dentist and his colleagues, I concluded that a common thread of skills united them all, regardless of their specialty: each dentist worked well on a team, exercised strong leadership skills and possessed the ability to communicate clearly and precisely.
Coming to the United States I knew what I wanted to pursue, and started by earning a bachelors of Science degree. I had my first Research Laboratory project in Cell Biology and Physiology studied Dopamine Receptors and its effects on cells, which I had the opportunity to publish in a scientific journal. My inquisitiveness with how cells function joint with my desire to be academically challenged earned me acceptance to work on a graduate level research at Princeton University. I have gained firsthand experience in poster and oral presentations by presenting at numerous research symposium and conferences. My distinguished research project won me numerous awards. These experiences further convinced me that dentistry is the profession that correctly combines my mechanical aptitude with my desire for interpersonal interaction.
My hobbies and interest including, bookbinding and sewing, Drawing, typing, Carpentry & crafting.   I have distinctly excelled in such core courses as Cell Biology, Microbiology, Organic chemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics and Advanced Calculus, all of which are highly relevant to the program I am applying for.
My experience in previous research and live experiences will bring a unique perspective to your program. I can also offer your program a motivated, responsible, team player and a passionate person, who is committed to excellence, intelligence, and personal initiative.  I am eager to support and promote the fine reputation of your institution. It is through deep personal consideration that I have decided that your program is the perfect extension of my training, personality, and talents and I believe I have what it takes to succeed.  I believe your University is an ideal place for me to continue my pursuit of dentistry. It is equipped with the resource, newest technologies and expertise in the field I hope to explore. Above all, your University places an emphasis on students. Please accept this letter as an expression of interest in your dentistry Program.
