retaking the mcat vs. moving on
0 votes
I recently took the mcat and received the following scores: 12PS, 7VR, 11BS, for a total of 30S. I'm entering my 4th year and I have a 3.8 gpa and a science gpa of 3.9. By the time i graduate I will have 2 years worth of experience as a teaching assistant at my university, 100+ hours of volunteering experience at a hospital, and I am beginning to work in a research lab which will give me a years worth of experience as well. I'm torn on whether or not to retake the mcat because I'm only below average in the verbal section, and english is a second language for me. In an ideal world I would love to stay in california (CA resident), and attend a school like UCLA or USC. However, I'm aware that it is competitive. How competitive will I be in CA as well as private out of state institutions (schools such as NYU and Boston U).

Thank you for any input, I greatly appreciate it.
