| Customer Reviews: Get the newest guide available!! May 1, 2006 Joshua T. Sparks 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is a good source of info, but in order to have it be useful you need to get the newest one - a new edition comes out every year. And by the way, Dr. Kanani's book is a waste of money! I bought it and there was nothing extraordinary about it. A better resource is the dental forum at studentdoctor.net.
A good book for it's day but there's a better book out now June 13, 2004 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
In a few words (I just graduated from dental school and we're moving in a few days!!), I wanted to say that I have a few friends that just got accepted to dental school this week (NYU, Penn, Boston) and they used a book that was so current on the dental school application process that it quite frankly, shocked me! It's a book by Dr. Kanani on dental school applications and his statistical information was dead on for Boston Univ. and NYU and I mean recent admission stats. They obviously update the book very regularly. Anyways, good luck with your apps.
OK guide to start but missing many things March 12, 2004 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a reasonable guide but it is missing many things. Because this is a American Dental Association Guide, they cannot give you any real tips on applying to dental school because that would mean they would need to tell you to do certain things to become better prepared or it may even involve giving you tips that dental schools wouldn't want to give you! For example, the stance of the book is that all schools are the same and that no dental schools should be rated. The books also states that all schools are good for specializing after dental school, etc, etc. This is not true! There are obviously some schools that are better than others, and some schools have a reputation for having more dental students get accepted for competitive specialty programs like oral surgery and orthodontics. It's true that this books gives you stats on each school, but so do other books like dr kanani's guide to dental school admission. Looking up his book in amazon I couldn't find it but I think I bought it at predentalinfo.com. Kanani's books also had great interviewing tips and other real advice that other people don't tell you! Good luck to all, Marissa
