MIDI input did not work November 22, 2008 Lokibaho (Phoenix, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
DO NOT RECOMMEND - HDOA (half dead on arrival). Got this device, installed it, connected to my Casio WK-3000 keyboard. MIDI output (to keyboard) worked great, input did not work. Since I bought my Casio used, I thought it might be the keyboard. Took me a while to round up another to try (out of town for a while) - but same thing when I did. Bought a new (MUCH cheaper - $10) MIDI USB interface, had in working in two minutes. Unfortunately my return window had expired :(
DO NOT RECOMMEND - there are much cheaper alternatives, and they work!
It just worked. November 22, 2008 L. Fuiano (Philadelphia, PA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
When it comes to this kind of hardware, the best products are the ones that are invisible. I had an old MIDI keyboard workstation with weighted keys. I also had a truncated USB controller that I used as a computer input. I didn't see the reason to have both. I did a quick search for a MIDI to USB interface and found the MIDISPORT.
I use it for sketches in Garageband, but I'm sure it would be fine in any composing software.
Since I don't do much with keyboard electronics, studio gear or MIDI in general, it took me a minute understand the MIDI path, and the directions were not very thorough. After some trial and error it just worked.

Absolutely no issue in using this. Used this with MIDI Drum pads and Laptop with MS Vista.
Danger Will Robinson!!! Your OS will be compromised! June 17, 2008 Bobby W. (USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I actually got this to work with my Yamaha P-80, but I paid dearly for it.
I'm running Windows XP and during the driver installation, I got the "...has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatability with Windows XP" message.
OK, the next paragraph was really scary - "Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabalize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing."
M-Audio's user guide ACTUALLY INSTRUCTS you to click the "Continue Anyway" button, so instead of stopping the install and returning this item for a refund, I trusted them and continued the install (you actually get warned twice not to install). BIG MISTAKE!
After the install, I found out my Email and Internet services were not working. Somehow, the Midisport installation managed to turn off my Broadcom network adapter, and if I hadn't had the help of AT&T tech support, I would have concluded that I had a hardware problem with my Ethernet connection. Don't know yet if anything else got messed up.
As an added bonus, there's also a warning sticker hidden inside the package advising you, for reasons I won't even get into, to wash your hands after handling the product. I am not making this up.
I have never had this type of problem installing a USB device, and I have about 6 of them.
Avoid, unless you can take the risk.
Outstanding and easy June 1, 2008 Michael J. Main (Saint Paul, MN USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
M-Audio has an awesome product here. Realize that I am using it on a Mac and with a Yamaha keyboard. I checked other reviews before buying this and the Mac and Yamaha combo was reportedly great. I now agree! My daughter is thrilled and I know we will have days, months, maybe years of fun using this.
