The Down-Low

Louisville had a rural medicine program in Medisonville, KY. You spend your first two years in Louisville and your clinical years in Madisonville. They are always looking for people to fill these spots and you may have a better chance of being accepted if you agree to go to Madisonville for the clinical years. For Suggestions and/or to Make Contributions: See/Edit Suggestions for The Down-Low

Pre-Interview

Interview Day

Interviews are in the morning. You have two interviewers and each will interview you alone. They could be MDs, PhDs, or students. Then you have lunch with first or second year students. You may talk to them and ask questions. This part is not evaluated, so feel free to ask anything. Each interviewer is paired up with a student and that student will take you on a tour of the campus. You are then invited to attend an afternoon class.

About the School

Curricula

Clinical years thought to be better than pre-clinical years. In years past, Step 1 scores have lagged behind national average. Pre-clinical years could really use a pathophysiology course to help integrate stuff before students sit for Step 1. Recently, the Step 1 scores have improved. Students on clinical services have plenty of opportunities to get hands on experience, ie you will do procedures under the tutelage of residents & faculty. Great rotations include surgery, ob and pediatrics.
