Overall, applicants generally expressed positive sentiments towards the schools they interviewed at, highlighting aspects such as relaxed interviews, welcoming faculty, and impressive facilities. Some mentioned concerns about the cost of attendance or the location of the school, while others were enthusiastic about the emphasis on clinical preparation and supportive environments.
-
Interviewers were very rude, dismissive, not engaged, harsh, and argumentative.
-
Not a fan, really upset
-
Had another interview before this at another school that I enjoyed more, but really haven't had that many to base it off of. Still really liked the school and everything about it. I would be thrilled to get in here and really hope I get accepted, definitely a top school of mine.
-
Very friendly and relaxed interview
-
Interviewers seemed to be unhappy with my answers even though they were rather textbook. Could be an issue on my end though not sure.
-
Generally relaxed, literally exactly what you would expect.
-
It was a great inteview
-
I was super nervous and think I didn't do too well but overall it was not hard questions. This was my first interview ever so I panic.
-
Student information session and wrap up the interview were very reassuring and showed a lot of good personalities as well as positives in the school.
-
I interviewed during the covid 19 pandemic so I had mine online. Overall, it was the same style as an in person interview just through a screen. Harder to gauge ones personality
-
Loved the school, haters gonna hate.
-
Really great, welcoming school.
-
I loved the school, faculty, and facilities, but the school is way too expensive.
-
I really liked how they emphasized that their goal is to produce practice ready graduates.
-
Overall good school great clinical work
-
Great school.
-
Liked the school. State of the art facilities.
-
UDM emphasizes making great clinicians, and they don't disappoint.
-
It was honestly a huge surprise for me; I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did. It is a super nice school with great faculty and students and it sounds like such a supportive environment.
-
I hope I get accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Very nice school, facility is very nice, a run down area but thats part of the experience and being able to treat a variety of patients
-
I liked everything about the school minus the increase class size and price. It was very difficult to give up my acceptance to the school.
-
They will intimidate you at first but they will open up to you later on.
-
Make sure you are calm and dress very professional they notice everything. Top button buttoned with tie all the way up.
-
About what I expected, good clinical prep, maybe less need for a GPR or AEGD than most school's graduates, a so-so/cold location.
-
A+ program. I almost didn't come because of the location's rep, but I am really glad I did.
-
Nice faculty and the facilities looked top notch. Personally, I didn't think this school was the right fit for me though.
-
Great school...top choice
-
Good enough school to still question if i made the right decision not to go there
-
Great dental school, great faculty and staff, friendliness everywhere! Just wish I could place the school in my backyard.
-
Great experience! I was interviewed on the clinic floor and really got a first hand look at the student experience at the school.
-
Love the school/hate the city.
wish i could transplant the school to a different city! lol

**This was for the 7 YEAR BS/DDS PROGRAM.** I had an essay and two interviews. The essay was about 3 subjects: is health care a right or privilege, what makes you a good dentist, and why come to udm's 7 year program.
The first interview was with a guy from the college of science and we talked about everyday things, politics, etc.
the 2nd interview was with a guy from the dental school and that was more about denistry. The below ?s were from the dentistry guy.
-
Laid back interview with intersting faculty. They are on top of the game, especially when it comes to selecting good dentist, not just good academics.
-
Great interview. very laid back. no stressful questions. It's pretty much a conversation, just so they get to know you.
-
I had a tour from a student first. My interview was with one of the professors. It was very informal and laid back. Very few actual questions were asked, but it was mostly just a conversation about the school and dentistry in general.
-
Interview was very laid back. they want to make sure the student knows about dentistry and not just trying to get in because of his/her high grades. just be yourself. It is more of a conversation than asking standard interview questions. be prepared to answer questions about specific low grades you got in classes or on the DAT because they will ask why. Cheating question is asked every single time, so be sure you tell them ''the cheater doesn't deserve to be in dental school, it's not professional or ethical'' New school is very nice. The interview goes by quickly so make sure you tell and show all of the good stuff about you in the short time you get to talk.
-
I have to say, I drove over and there was a lot of construction going on on the highways so I got lost. I tried to call to get directions but the phone lines were not working which was annoying. I ended up showing up 5 minutes late. However it wasn't a big issue since the person interviewing me was late also. The school is very nice since it was just renovated and still in the process of being renovated. Some things seem a little disorganized but the kinks would be fixed once they finish moving into the new site.

Arrived about 15 minutes prior to my interview. First thing was the jacket fitting and I debated whether to put my nickname on it, but then decided against it. My interview picked me up and took me into the clinic. Firstly, he told me the cons of UDM which I admired since no school that I have visited previously would tell me why I shouldn't go there. Anyway, the interview was in the clinic and mostly I observed my interviewer tending to students and their patients. The actual interview was maybe only 5 minutes as I never really fully answered any questions that were asked since we were in such a bind for time. Then had lunch which my interviewer paid for and ate with the seniors. After lunch came back to the clinic to finish my interview. Then went home. Good times all around!
-
The interview was relaxing. They did majority of the talking. It was more of a conversation and somehow you need to figure out a way to portray your ideas, personality, and attributes that make you stand out amongst the crowd.
-
It started off by meeting the assistant admissions director, Ms Blackburn. She fit me up for a white lab coat and asked how I would like my name spelled on it - this was very cool and inspiring. Next I sat in a small waiting room designated for interviewees with a little glass wall. My interviewer (Dr. Berkowski) came and picked me up and we went down to the clinic to conduct our interview in one of the open bays, since he is not a perminant professor and does not have an office. The interview started off with a few general questions, why dentistry, strenghts/weaknesses, what would i do if i saw someone cheating (the correct answer to this question is to rat them out,... even though i'd have a hard time doing that. It messes up the grading curve and is unfair) , what would i do if i were failing a class in dental school , what would i do if i didn't get in, what if i COULD NOT be a dentist, what happened to my freshmen (low scores) year , ... that kind of stuff. After about 25-30 minutes of that, he took the rest of the hour telling me about UDM. everything about their specialty programs, clinics, what they are and what they aren't (they are clinic, not research). in the middle of our interview students would come up and ask him questions (he is the clinical professor), so we'd go over to the patient, talk about the case, he show me things, and we went back to continue the interview - very relaxed setting. He took me on a tour of the school, and bought my lunch with two other dental students who told me their take of it. They seem to like it a lot, and say it's very challenging, and talked about the usual class/professor venting about the things they dont like. After the lunch we went back to the clinic and met back up with the interviewer, asked me for any questions, told me specificially that he is going to "endorse me", and was impressed with how things went. Then he walked me out the front door.

Overall interview experience was really good!!! During my interview Dr. Jeffers (super nice guy) gave me couple hints of my acceptance :)) . They send me letter in next week.
-
Great experience. I wasn't very nervous going in, and it was exactly what I expected - very relaxed, conversational, everyone was reassuring.
-
It was a good experience. Very relaxed.
-
It started out with just a list of standardized questions they ask you and then it is just open for you to ask questions. It was pretty much just a good conversation between us.
-
Overall is was a positive experience, but it was by no means as impressive as other schools i have been to.
-
Interview went great and I was accepted and will attend UDM.
-
It was a very relaxed experience and it was pretty much a conversation.
-
Immediatly interview, followed by a tour.
-
Overall a great school, great faculty and students. Got accepted a week later and starting next fall
-
Great Program. For all you out-of-staters afraid of the location... its not as bad as you think. While its in detroit, its pretty much surrounded by a neighborhood and also has an intimidating perimeter fence with security before you enter.
-
Excellent...I think this would be a great school to attend, especially if you like the state of Michigan a lot.
-
Amazing..they got back to me a week later and I plan to attend this school.
-
It was great - I really recommend trying this school out - no one had anything negative to say and everyone was really great to be around - very positive.
-
My interviewer was awesome...real laid back and extremely nice. She didn't want to make it stressful and overall I was impressed with the school.
-
I love this school and although I have interviews at 4 other schools I am canceling them because UDM is my first choice. I love that they are always keeping me updated on my application through the mail and also that the school itself never acts like its too good for anyone. For example, rather than saying "Your DAT score is too low for us, you'll never get in" they suggest that you probably were not as prepared as you could have been and they would like to see you take the test again and improve. YES ITS IN A BAD AREA but that is an asset because of all the patients that come to the school for care. You get an amazing clinical experience compared to other schools. I was accepted 3 days after my interview.
-
The dental school is getting old, but they are moving to a different campus in two years. the clinic is really nice, fairly new. they treated me very nicely, the students were all really nice.
-
I feel the interview went great and it was such a relaxing experience. I was not nervous at all and normally I freak out. I was only asked a few questions and then we pretty much just talked so don't be nervous!
-
It was a wonderful interview experience. More like a conversation, my interviewer basically wanted to get to know a little bit about me, and then give me the opportunity to ask as many questions as I wanted. It was truly informative!
-
Excellent
-
Overall the interview was really laid back. The professor I interviwed with was really nice. I heard if you get a interview with U of D your pretty much garanteed admission.
-
The interview was great, the faculty member was very nice and I really enjoyed talking to him, my questions were answered very well
-
I like the school! It is definitely one of my top choices. Much more impressive then the Internet site sell it to be. The staff was very warm, and the school seems to have the students as the top priority.
-
I was positive I wouldn't get in, but a few days after my interview the dean called to congratulate me, it's a good school with a big waitlist.
