What do you like most?
-
Solid foundation and heavily guided clinic time
-
New facilities, Select few good faculty
-
The facilities, the technology-forward approach to dentistry, the dedication of faculty to serve students.
-
Faculty are extremely responsive and helpful
What do you like least?
-
Externship programs
-
Toxic Environment, Disorganization, Huge gaps in instruction, General Unprofessionalism by faculty (ie. Faculty Completely unprepared to give lessons, disorganization, blaming students for their own mistakes, not allowing students to do procedures)
-
The lack of experience that a seasoned dental school would have, the unequal distribution of procedures across students in the clinic.
-
Some classes are disorganized. I attribute this to the school being new and in a few years this issue should be fixed as they find a groove.
What are the facilities and clinics like (old/new, well maintained, etc.)?
-
Very new
-
New Facilties
-
New, state-of-the-art, and well-maintained
-
Everything is brand new and in top of the line condition.
How do students from this program do after graduation - are they adequately prepared for practice?
-
They do very well. Being in a residency program, I feel more than adequately prepared.
-
Probably among the least prepared. Faculty show up completely unprepared to teach. Blame culture where students are blamed for not knowing things that weren't taught.
-
Most of them enter GPRs (especially if they are from the northeast), some find jobs in private practice right away, and 10% of the inaugural graduating went on to pursue specialty residencies right out of dental school.
-
First class graduates this year
What are rotations like?
-
Hospital based dental rotations, Special needs
-
There are 2 to 3 weeklong hospital rotations regionally where students can learn hospital-based dentistry in a GPR program, and another 1 week rotation in a special needs dental clinic.
How do students from this program do in the Match?
Any other information you want to share?
-
DO NOT ATTEND for at least 5 years. Most of the Dentistry I have learned was off of youtube due to the poor instruction we got here. You may say that because I was part of the first class I should've expected it, but tell that to my 400k student debt. Program is as disorganized as they come and problems start at the top.

Touro CDM has a lot of unrealized potential. What would help is better triage and distribution of patient cases according to procedure. Additionally, the onboarding of more faculty who are specifically trained or experienced in education would improve the didactic curricula.
Success!
