Read papers and abstracts, made sure I was familiar with the program in general, and thought about questions I might like to ask.
What impressed you positively?
The location, the current graduate students, the quality of work being produced, the apparent absence of stress among faculty and students, their openness to discussing weaknesses (though there aren't many and most don't even apply to me), their 100% match rate over the past seven or so years, etc.
What impressed you negatively?
I've heard the football fans are pretty intense
What did you wish you had known ahead of time?
I wish I had brought ear plugs for the night before
What are your general comments?
I loved this program! By the end of the day MANY of the applicants were saying that UT had risen to the top of their lists.
