What impressed you positively?

"The Meharry "family"...The atmosphere is very nurturing. Once you're in they will do anything in their power to keep you and see you succeed. I think meharry being a HBC is definitely an advantage." Report Response

What impressed you negatively?

"Too much down time during the day. My interviewer was almost an hour late. Another interviewer was complaining about the students' poor performance in Physiology. Also, the low first-time pass rate on Step 1 (~76%), but now all Meharry students take Kaplan during the summer b/f the boards." Report Response

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

"I was impressed with the fact that there is so much history at Meharry. That really meant a lot to me." Report Response

What are your general comments?

"The interview day was definitely low stress. It was great being at an HBC. My interviewers were pretty good, but one was kind of bitter about the students' low performance in some areas. During lunch, there is a question/answer session with some 2nd year students. You have to eat and talk at the same time so that was kind of difficult. Also, the students interview you after you finish eating. Bring a book to read or something to do because you may have a lot of down time during interviews." Report Response
