"It's 15 years from now and you an attending. You have a resident under you that you've had for 2 years. Everybody likes him a lot, he's very knowledgeable, hardworking, good with patients etc. One day you come in and a nurse pulls you aside and tells you that you should know that the night before the resident came in to preform an emergency surgery.
