"*This is a small program with a close-knit feel among the residents and faculty. Takes only 5 categorical positions per year, so they are focused on recruiting residents who really <i>want</i> to be there. The residency is run by a private practice anesthesia group, so you get a little different perspective on the anesthesia business doing residency here...more focus on turnover time and other things it takes to be successful in the "real world." PD seems very committed to education and constant evaluation of the program to improve aspects such as didactics, rotations, etc. Graduates of the program go on to good fellowships (this year: regional @ Dartmouth, cardiac @ Duke) and jobs all over the country, not just in New England. <BR>*CBY includes rotations through OB, peds (? I think), seems pretty benign as far as categorical intern years go. Medicine months include 1 week of night float, so the only actual "call" is done on weekends. <BR>*Call: CA-1s do 6 calls per month, 2 weekends free. CA-2s do 5 calls per month, 2 weekends free. CA-3s do 4 calls per month, 3 weekends free. <BR>*Didactics: 1 half day/week devoted to lectures, weekly grand rounds, cardiac/TEE conferences. <BR>*Top-notch educational stipend and 10 days total conference time. <BR>*Portland is a beautiful coastal town with plenty of outdoor activities in the area, decent cost of living for New England." | More from this Member | Report Response

"Program puts you up in fancy Eastland Park Hotel, small applicant groups of ~4 or less. Dinner the night before with a couple of residents. Interview day starts with a tour of the hospital and talk about the program with the PD, then lunch with the residents.
