45 minutes

3

What was the style of the interview?:

One-on-one

What impressed you positively?:

It is a small program with 6-7 residents a year and they seemed like they got along really well and were very comfortable with each other. Very strong child fellowship at DC Children's and good early exposure to child with 2-4 months spent during PGY2. Being in DC, provides unique opportunities like their clinic for internation refugees, and 3-week rotation in public health policy. Residents can choose to arrange to do research at the NIMH, which is close by in Bethesda. Great location in Foggy Bottom neighborhood of DC, with many things close by and accessible by the subway system. Report as inappropriate

What impressed you negatively?:

It is very expensive to live in the area, so some residents choose to live in nearby VA or even Maryland. Report as inappropriate

How was your interview day? Please summarize.:

There were only 2 of us during the interview day, so it was nice in that way. The day started off for me with an interview with the program director who was very approachable and friendly. Then I had an interview with one of the chief residents who answered most of my questions. This was followed by lunch with a few residents at a closeby restaurant. Then I had my final interview with another faculty member after lunch, and a brief meeting with the current chairman of psychiatry. The day concluded with a tour of the facilities at GWU.
