What impressed you positively?:
Mount Sinai is located in Upper East Side near Central Park, so that is unbeatable. Residents also get experience rotating at Bronx VA and the Forensics Unit at Elmhurst. The facilities were nice and spacious. Teaching seems to be strong, especially PGY-2 and beyond. Many opportunities for research if that is your interest. Good psychotherapy training - affiliated with the NY Psychoanalytic Society & Institute. Strong in child psychiatry, with presence of Triple Board Program. Subsidized housing available close to the hospital, which is a big plus in this expensive area of NYC. New program director Ron Rieder, who previously held the position at Columbia for many years. What impressed you negatively?:
The program seemed a bit more formal than some of the others that I had seen. It is expensive to live in NYC, but at least it seems like the residents have time to enjoy what the city has to offer. PGY-1 didactics may not be as strong as the other years, but it seems like it is something they are working on changing. Report as inappropriate
How was your interview day? Please summarize.:
Day started with breakfast and an introduction from the program director and co-director. Then I had two interviews with faculty members, followed by a short break. Then had a brief meeting with the program director. We then attended Grand Rounds, followed by lunch where several of the residents from different classes dropped by to answer our questions. The PD and co-director gave a final overview on the program, and then the day concluded with a tour of the facilities led by one of the chief residents. Report as inappropriate
