What impressed you positively?:
It's MGH! What didn't impress me positively. First off, everyone was extremely warm and welcoming. I don't know how MGH has somehow gotten the reputation of being the most crusty, old-school Harvard program... perhaps because it is certainly the one steeped in the most history and tradition in our field. However, the people are now at all stodgy or formal. They are kind, intelligent, welcoming, and forward-thinking. The Chair, Dr. Wiener-Kronish, is a real positive force for the department and has a lot of great ideas to move forward into the new era of Anesthesiology. I also really liked the PD and assistant PD, and the residents I met seemed happy and pretty laid-back. They were very smart and clearly took anesthesiology seriously, but were not at all snobby, despite being at arguably the best name in the country. Report as inappropriate
What impressed you negatively?:
It's an older hospital building than, say, the Brigham, which is all shiny glass beauty. However, for every rickety old hallway in MGH, there is history seeping from every corner. And the ETHER DOME is beautiful! Report as inappropriate
How was your interview day? Please summarize.:
Exciting, informative, and fairly relaxed. MGH obviously impressed me very much. You really can't ask for a better "name," but I also don't think you can find a nicer bunch of people to train with -- at least if interview day impressions are accurate. Report as inappropriate
