The Basics

Overall, how satisfied are you with this program?

0 = Terrible, 10 = World Class

What do you like most?

"Very supportive faculty, guided learning, clinical rotations in top ranked hospitals (depending on preclinical campus)" | Report Response

"The student body has a strong relationship together, and at the end of the day I can be confident that my career will be in a solid place after graduation. OU's alumni network and faculty connections, just from it's age and strength of program, makes it a recognized program in all of my rotations and outside interactions with actual doctors. There's a lot of diversity here as well, and everybody can find a group that they can bond and become close with. This includes diversity of faculty, and it feels like there truly is a faculty member who would be a great mentor for every individual student. Plus, personally I love the campus - tons of study spaces, and provided pandemic passage, a new building that I'm hype for." | Report Response

"Very little, but I guess a few professors shine. And we at the Cleveland Campus get to go to the Cleveland Clinic for rotations." | Report Response

"Curriculum + Board Prep" | Report Response

What do you like least?

"Mandatory lectures, clinical rotations in small, outpatient settings (depending on preclinical campus)" | Report Response

"OU's faculty are very forward minded, and sometimes the executions of new educational initiatives is a little ambitious (the initial transition to flipped classroom learning took a few weeks for the faculty themselves to even all understand, and we had some slow lectures). But knowing that the faculty is always making efforts makes us know that any real concerns will be resolved. Speaking for the elephant in the room if you are reading these reviews, other posters had real concerns. I can only speak for myself, but every time a concern was brought to faculty there was an eventual solution provided in my view. Whether those solutions pleased everybody, you can say no, but in terms of providing a space for continuous, flexible dialogue, many were still satisfied in faculty being able to admit mistakes and change programs." | Report Response

What are the facilities and clinics like (old/new, well maintained, etc.)?

"All campuses have facilities updated or new within the last 5-10 years. Athens has a new campus opened in the last 2 years." | Report Response

"They have been old in the past, but there is a new building finished in 2021 that will put the student facility on par with the newest medical school buildings." | Report Response

"Cleveland and Dublin campuses are new and well-maintained. Athens is older but new construction is currently underway." | Report Response

How do students from this program do after graduation - are they adequately prepared for practice?

"High match rate, excellent board pass rate" | Report Response

"This is the first year of the new curriculum, so uncertain at this point. Up until now, the answer is yes." | Report Response

What are rotations like?

"Dependent on campus, but can rotate in many of the large hospital systems of Ohio and get 1-on-1 training from residents and attendings" | Report Response

"Rotations vary based on campus. In Athens, expect to do some traveling rotations to small hospital systems throughout the state unless you rotate in Athens itself. In Dublin/Cleveland, you'll do rotations at the various Ohiohealth facilities in those cities." | Report Response

"Cleveland Clinic rotations will likely be awesome. There were some issues with current fourth years where one of their OB/GYN rotations was a physician who only prescribed medical marijuana, so those students had to scramble to find their own OB/GYN rotations and some had to travel all the way to Toledo." | Report Response

How do students from this program do in the Match?

"94-96% match rate" | Report Response

"Good, but again this is for the previous curriculum. I think the new curriculum is 10 steps in the wrong direction." | Report Response

Any other information you want to share?

"I have appreciated and loved my classmates and faculty mentors, and I'm excited for future classes who get to experience the new facilities and curriculum!" | Report Response

"The students who wrote this feedback successfully completed 2 years of pre-clinical under the new PHWC at OU-HCOM. We were strong students and some of us have already taken Level / Step 1. We feel this is the most accurate way to represent our school and faculty. Very few positives, unfortunately. Go elsewhere if possible." | Report Response
