Applicants were overwhelmingly impressed by the modern facilities, advanced technology, and friendly faculty at the institution. Additionally, the thoughtful gesture of providing a buffet dinner and gift bags left a positive impression on many applicants.
The teaching building and facilities are very new. The teaching technology equipment is super advanced. The Dean
and all faculty members are very friendly. They offered a buffet dinner and a gift bag for each person, which was very thoughtful.
Applicants were initially concerned about Pikeville's small town size but were pleasantly surprised by its offerings and "small town big city feel." The overwhelmingly positive feedback suggests that there were no significant negative impressions shared by applicants.
Initially I was hesitant because Pikeville is such a small town, however it has a lot more to offer than you would think and it has a small town big city feel.

Applicants generally praised KYCO for being a modern and well-equipped optometry school with a welcoming faculty and staff. They highlighted the expensive tuition but appreciated the inclusive package provided. Additionally, they found the interview process to be relaxed, conversational, and supportive, making candidates feel valued and confident.
KYCO is one of the newest optometry schools so it has up-to-date everything. The tuition is pricy, however they include a $15,000 package which covers all necessary items (scrubs, kit, board review, textbooks, iPad...). The faculty and staff were extremely welcoming and student would even mention how much they loved the school. The housing options seem limited, however the majority of landlords only rent to professional students so you will be given a housing sheet with availibility and landlord information. Definitely consider this school and attend an in-person interview to experience the environment.
Very relaxed and conversational interview. The interviewers were very nice. They don't make people nervous, but help you feel confident. They are attentive and considerate and make you feel like you are a very cherished candidate.
