What are your biggest pet peeves? --by a grad student who was just trying to get to know me personality-wise. It caught me off-guard and I couldn't think of anything at first.
Also, one of the professor's asked me something specific about the facial expressivity coding system I used in my honor's thesis, which I couldn't remember much about on the spot.

Applicants commonly prepared for the interview by researching the faculty's work and the program, reviewing potential interview questions, and practicing their responses both in writing and aloud. This thorough approach helped them feel more confident and prepared for the interview process.
read POI's articles, read program description on website
Read up on POI's publications, researched the school's location/ facilities. Used SDN clinical psych forum to make a list of potential interview questions, and answered them in writing and aloud to myself
Applicants were impressed positively by the high stipend offered, the availability of fellowships within the program, the accommodating nature of the POI, and the guaranteed funding for at least four years. Some noted discrepancies between faculty interests and information on the website, suggesting the need for more up-to-date information to be provided to potential applicants.
good stipend, a couple fellowships are offered within the grad school to the clinical program every year to attract high quality applicants, POI was very nice/accomodating
My POIs interests match much closer with mine. The web site is a bit deceiving b/c Dr. Lewine has changed his interests toward more family-based research, which you wouldn't know from his previous publications or the department web site.
Also, the stipend is high compared to other programs ($22000) and faculty guarantee funding for at least 4 years.
Applicants expressed negative impressions about a lack of enthusiasm among some current students, less-than-ideal campus location, limited grant funding for faculty, limited exposure to the city, concerns about potential peers, and feeling like a minority politically on campus. Suggestions include improving student engagement, enhancing campus amenities, increasing grant opportunities for faculty, fostering a more inclusive environment, and providing greater insight into campus culture and diversity.
lack of enthusiasm from some current students in the program, campus location not the greatest, limited grant funding among faculty
I didn't get to see the city very much and there were a few applicants who I hope I don't have to work with if I'm accepted and decide to go. Also, I'm a Democrat, which seems to be a minority group even on campus.
Applicants commonly wish they had known in advance that their research interests aligned closely with their potential advisors, relieving concerns about research fit and increasing their chances of selection. This highlights the importance of thoroughly researching potential advisors and their ongoing projects before applying to a program.
That my POIs interests actually aligned with mine exactly. I went into it worried about the research match, and it turns out I was selected in part because my background is ideal for his upcoming projects.
Applicants generally appreciate the supportive faculty and high stipend but find the location less than ideal and note that securing external research funding may be a challenge. They value the autonomy afforded to students but stress the importance of being self-motivated in this program.
The location is not ideal, but I'm definitely considering Louisville. The faculty seem supportive, but it's clear they won't micro-manage your life, so you have to be somewhat of a self-starter. If you're looking for external research funding, then this is probably not your top choice; however, the stipend is quite high so it makes up for it.
