The BYU School of Medicine will be located on the university's West Campus, the former site of Provo High School, situated near Intermountain Health’s Utah Valley Hospital. Dr. Mark Ott, an accomplished surgeon with experience at institutions such as Johns Hopkins and Harvard Medical School, has been appointed as the inaugural dean.
The curriculum will focus on teaching and research in areas of strategic importance to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including international health issues and the Church’s worldwide humanitarian efforts. The medical school aims to provide a high-quality, spiritually based program that reinforces the mission of BYU and the Church.
