California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) offers a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program through its Department of Communication Disorders. The program is designed to prepare students for careers as independent audiology practitioners, focusing on diagnosing and rehabilitating patients with hearing and balance disorders. The AuD program received initial accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE) on June 7, 2022, valid through June 30, 2032. The program admitted its first cohort in winter 2019.
The AuD curriculum spans four years and includes both didactic coursework and extensive clinical training. Students are required to complete courses in hearing science, audiology, rehabilitative audiology, neuroscience of communication, and statistics. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice and aims to equip students with the competencies necessary for licensure and national certification.
The AuD program and the associated Hearing & Balance Clinic are located off-campus at The Alhambra complex, providing students with access to modern facilities and resources. The clinic offers a range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services, allowing students to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of certified professionals.
Cal State LA serves a diverse student body, with a total enrollment of 22,740 students as of Fall 2024, including 19,350 undergraduates and 3,390 graduate students. The university is recognized as a Hispanic-serving institution and is eligible to be designated as an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander serving institution (AANAPISI).

Although we could tier rank, over the past 25 years we've found no compelling benefit for ranking schools. Students are most successful when they prioritize personal and academic fit over school rank.
