The George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences offers a hybrid Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (eOTD) program designed for individuals without prior occupational therapy licensure. Located in Washington, D.C., the program emphasizes collaboration with diverse communities to address unmet occupational needs. Students benefit from access to national and international partners across various disciplines, including health, education, arts, and government, fostering both professional and personal growth.
The eOTD program spans eight semesters and combines on-campus residencies with remote learning. Each month, students participate in 6–8 on-campus residency days, engaging in collaborative, experiential, and service-learning activities to develop clinical competencies. The remaining weeks feature remote sessions, including both synchronous and asynchronous coursework. Fieldwork experiences are integrated throughout the curriculum, with variable time commitments each semester, culminating in a 14-week doctoral capstone experience.
The program is housed in a state-of-the-art facility within the historic Watergate Complex on GW's Foggy Bottom campus. The space includes communal areas equipped with modern amenities, an Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Suite featuring a fully functional kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, living room, and bedroom, as well as advanced classrooms and occupational therapy labs. These facilities are designed to support hands-on learning and the development of practical skills essential for occupational therapy practice.
Specific demographic information for the eOTD program is not available. However, the broader GW graduate student population comprises approximately 7,361 individuals, with 58% identifying as female and 42% as male. The racial and ethnic composition includes 44.7% White, 20.6% International, 10.4% Asian, 8.6% Black or African American, 7.6% Hispanic, 5.4% Unknown, 2.4% Multi-Ethnic, and 0.2% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander students.

Although we could tier rank, over the past 25 years we've found no compelling benefit for ranking schools. Students are most successful when they prioritize personal and academic fit over school rank.
