Accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, the Institute offers a range of programs across its School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Healthcare Leadership. With over 1,600 full- and part-time students, the Institute has graduated more than 9,000 healthcare professionals since its inception. Students engage in five part-time Level I fieldwork placements across diverse settings during the first two years, followed by two full-time 12‑week Level II placements and a culminating Advanced Doctoral Experience tied to their capstone or research project. Throughout, the program emphasizes evidence-based practice, active learning, service to underserved communities, and leadership development.

Facilities

The OTD program is housed in the MGH Institute’s urban Boston campus in the Charlestown Navy Yard, featuring extensive classroom and laboratory space—including the dedicated Tabor/Connor Occupational Therapy Center for Learning, Participation, and Rehabilitation (OT CLiPR) with mock household environments and standardized patient simulation. Through its affiliation with Mass General Brigham and nearby MGH sites, students have access to a variety of world-class clinical settings—ranging from acute care and community clinics to schools and rehab centers—for integrated learning and fieldwork.

Why no Tier Rankings?

Although we could tier rank, over the past 25 years we've found no compelling benefit for ranking schools. Students are most successful when they prioritize personal and academic fit over school rank.
