The Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine, established through a partnership between Methodist University and Cape Fear Valley Health in 2023, is located on the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center campus in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The school aims to address regional healthcare needs by preparing graduates to be socially accountable, community-engaged, evidence-based, compassionate, and equity-focused physician leaders. The inaugural class is expected to include 64 students, with plans to welcome the first cohort in the summer of 2026, pending accreditation approvals.
The curriculum is designed to be highly innovative and cutting-edge, featuring the latest in learning technology. Students will participate in healthcare throughout the eight-county region from their first year in medical school. Health systems science and population health will be taught alongside foundational medical sciences and clinical sciences to produce holistic, competent, and caring practitioners.
The state-of-the-art, five-story facility, located on the western edge of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center along Village Drive, encompasses 127,500 square feet and includes 200 rooms. Features include learning centers, state-of-the-art classrooms, community and multi-purpose rooms, student lounges, a commons area, a virtual anatomy laboratory, a fully equipped standardized patient lab, conference rooms, and spaces for faculty and staff. The facility also offers an entrance plaza, learning garden, and courtyard.
