The Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program at Adelphi University is part of the New York Doctor of Audiology Consortium, a collaboration between Adelphi, Hofstra, and St. John's Universities. This four-year, full-time program integrates the resources of all three institutions, providing students with access to diverse faculty expertise, laboratory facilities, and clinical partnerships. Upon completion, graduates receive a diploma from their home institution, acknowledging the consortium's collaborative effort.
The AuD curriculum encompasses comprehensive coursework and clinical practicum experiences across all facets of audiologic practice. Students engage in advanced studies in areas such as vestibular assessment, hearing aid technology, early intervention, and electrophysiology. The program also requires the completion of a clinical research project proposal by the end of the third year. In the fourth year, students undertake a full-time clinical externship, ensuring practical, hands-on experience in the field.
Students benefit from state-of-the-art facilities across the consortium's campuses. At Adelphi University, the Hy Weinberg Center for Communication Disorders offers advanced clinical resources. Hofstra University provides access to its Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, while St. John's University features the Speech and Hearing Center. These facilities support a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services, enhancing the clinical training component of the program.
Adelphi University has a mid-size graduate student body with an enrollment of 2,755 graduate students. Of these, 45% are part-time students. The student population is diverse, with 44.1% identifying as White, 15.7% as African American, 14.6% as International (Non-Citizen), 13.3% as Hispanic, and 6.9% as Asian. The Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology programs are among the popular graduate programs offered.
