The Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium (NOAC) is a collaborative Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program jointly administered by The University of Akron and Kent State University, in affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. This partnership combines the academic and clinical strengths of both universities with the extensive clinical resources of the Cleveland Clinic to provide a comprehensive education in audiology. Students can apply through either university, and upon acceptance, they become NOAC students, progressing through a unified curriculum designed to prepare them for professional practice in audiology.
The NOAC curriculum is a continuous 45-month post-baccalaureate course of study that integrates classroom instruction, laboratory work, and clinical experiences. The program emphasizes the principles and practices underlying the evaluation, treatment, and management of hearing and balance disorders. Students are required to complete a minimum of 120 semester credits, accrue 2,000 clock hours of clinical experience, and pass competency-based examinations to meet the requirements for Ohio licensure in audiology.
Students in the NOAC program benefit from access to state-of-the-art facilities at both The University of Akron and Kent State University. The University of Akron's Audiology and Speech Center offers a full range of clinical services, including hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and auditory processing assessments. Additionally, the program's affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic provides students with exposure to a diverse patient population and advanced clinical practices in a leading healthcare setting.
The NOAC program attracts a diverse cohort of students from various academic backgrounds, all committed to pursuing careers in audiology. While specific demographic data may vary annually, the program maintains a commitment to inclusivity and seeks to enroll students who demonstrate academic excellence and a passion for the field. Applicants are evaluated based on their academic records, letters of recommendation, personal statements, and interviews conducted during the NOAC Visitation Day or via remote videoconference.

Although we could tier rank, over the past 25 years we've found no compelling benefit for ranking schools. Students are most successful when they prioritize personal and academic fit over school rank.
