New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) is a private, non-profit technical university located in Rhode Island, with campuses in East Greenwich and Warwick.
The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at NEIT is a hybrid two-year program tailored for certified occupational therapy assistants aiming to become registered occupational therapists. Courses rotate between five on‑campus weekends and alternate weeks of online instruction per 10‑week term, covering a comprehensive curriculum that includes service delivery models, clinical reasoning, kinesiology, critical analysis of scientific literature, mental health and pediatric practice, and culminating in hands‑on Level I and two full‑time Level II fieldwork placements. The program incorporates approximately one-third laboratory coursework with an average lab class size of 12 students under faculty supervision, preparing graduates to sit for the NBCOT exam. The program and the institution are fully accredited by ACOTE and NECHE.
NEIT’s East Greenwich main campus features a recently renovated 265,000 sq ft building housing modern classrooms, technical labs, and medical suites designed to simulate clinical environments. Dedicated OT labs support hands‑on learning, including specialized spaces for assessment and treatment, with an ideal student‑to‑instructor ratio in labs. The campus also provides simulation technologies and access to supporting facilities like a health sciences lab building. Students complete fieldwork in NEIT‑approved clinical sites across various settings including hospitals, schools, rehabilitation and community centers.
NEIT enrolls a diverse student body; occupational therapy graduate programs have historically graduated cohorts that are predominantly female, reflecting the national trend, and benefit from racially and ethnically varied representation. Data indicates that about 81 percent of master’s degree recipients in OT were women, while approximately 19 percent came from minority racial or ethnic groups. Overall institutional demographics show about 55 percent White, 14 percent Hispanic, 10 percent African American, 3 percent Asian, and 17 percent other, with roughly two‑thirds of students under age 25 and a strong mix of in‑state and out‑of‑state attendees.

Although we could tier rank, over the past 25 years we've found no compelling benefit for ranking schools. Students are most successful when they prioritize personal and academic fit over school rank.
