Nova Southeastern University's Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM) is a private medical school located in Davie, Florida, with an additional campus in Clearwater. Established in 1981 as the Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine, it was the first osteopathic medical school in the Southeastern United States. In 1994, it merged with Nova University to form NSU. The college offers a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree and is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association's Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. In 2017, the college was renamed in honor of Dr. Kiran C. Patel following a significant philanthropic contribution.
NSU-KPCOM provides a learner-centered education designed to prepare compassionate and competent physicians. The curriculum emphasizes interprofessional collaboration and is continually updated to incorporate the latest medical knowledge and technologies. Students engage in diverse clinical experiences, including serving medically underserved populations, to develop a comprehensive understanding of patient care.
The college's main campus in Davie spans 314 acres and includes state-of-the-art facilities such as the Terry Building, which houses administrative offices. In 2019, NSU opened a 27-acre campus in Clearwater, featuring a 325,000-square-foot medical education complex. This expansion was made possible by a $200 million commitment from the Patel Family Foundation, enhancing the college's capacity to educate future physicians.
As of 2024, NSU-KPCOM had an enrollment of 1,154 students. The college is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, aiming to equip students with the skills necessary to address the health care needs of various populations, including the medically underserved.
