About the School

The University of Florida's Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program is a campus-based, four-year graduate degree totaling 110 semester credit hours. It prepares students for professional careers in audiology by providing a comprehensive education in diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology, equipping them with the skills necessary to meet the challenges of the rapidly evolving hearing healthcare field. Graduates are eligible for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Board Certification in Audiology from the American Academy of Audiology, and state licensure in audiology.

Curriculum

The Au.D. curriculum encompasses extensive coursework in basic sciences, applied audiology, clinical research, statistics, audiologic rehabilitation, medical neuroscience, neuro-otology, cochlear implants, pharmacology, healthcare administration, programmable and digital hearing aids, counseling, communication and aging, and speech-language pathology. Students engage in a rigorous clinical practicum, gaining hands-on experience in UF Health facilities, the University of Florida Health Science Center, and affiliated hospitals and private practice clinics across North Florida and beyond. The program culminates in a full-time clinical audiology externship during the fourth year.
