The University of South Florida (USF) offers a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program through its Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. This four-year, full-time, 111-credit residential program is designed to prepare students for careers as clinical audiologists. The program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. USF also provides a dual degree option, allowing students to pursue both Au.D. and Ph.D. degrees within approximately six years, focusing on clinical service delivery and independent research in hearing science and clinical audiology.
The Au.D. curriculum encompasses comprehensive coursework, including subjects such as auditory anatomy and physiology, psychoacoustics, audiology instrumentation, advanced speech science, audiology counseling across the lifespan, medical audiology, principles of amplification, speech perception and sensorineural hearing loss, vestibular evaluation and treatment, aural rehabilitation across the lifespan, hearing conservation, and cochlear implants. Students are also required to complete clinical practica, a doctoral research project, comprehensive examinations, and a national examination in audiology.
USF's Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders houses state-of-the-art facilities, including the USF Hearing Clinic and Speech-Language Clinic, which offer a full array of services in a modern environment equipped with the latest diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitative equipment. The department also features an audiology teaching laboratory and 17 research labs, providing students with ample opportunities for hands-on learning and research.
USF is one of the 40 most diverse universities in the nation, with students representing every state, U.S. territory, and more than 140 countries. International students constitute approximately 12% of the total student population. As of Fall 2022, the student diversity profile includes approximately 50% White, 9% African American, 23% Hispanic of any race, 9% Asian, 0.2% American Indian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, 4% two or more races, and 5% students who did not report their race. Approximately 60% of USF students are female and 40% are male.

Although we could tier rank, over the past 25 years we've found no compelling benefit for ranking schools. Students are most successful when they prioritize personal and academic fit over school rank.
