The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) offers a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program through a collaborative partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This joint program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The program is designed to prepare students for professional practice in audiology, emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and clinical skills.
The Au.D. curriculum spans four years and includes coursework taught simultaneously at both UWSP and UW-Madison campuses via videoconferencing, allowing for interactive learning experiences. Laboratory sessions are conducted separately on each campus, ensuring hands-on training. Summer courses are delivered online, and clinical experiences are offered both on and off campus, providing students with diverse practical exposure.
UWSP's Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic serves as a clinical training facility, offering services to individuals across all age groups. The clinic is equipped with modern facilities, including therapy rooms, diagnostic suites, audiological sound-treated suites, hearing aid labs, and specialized labs for auditory and vestibular electrophysiological testing. These resources support both student learning and community service.
As of 2022, UWSP had a total enrollment of 7,964 students, with 86% identifying as White, 4.28% as Hispanic or Latino, 2.8% as Two or More Races, 2.77% as Asian, and 1.62% as Black or African American. The university maintains a student-to-faculty ratio that fosters personalized learning experiences, contributing to the success of its programs, including the Au.D. program.
