The Occupational Therapy program at UW is housed within the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. The program offers a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree, which is a 2.5-year program designed to prepare students for professional practice. The curriculum includes foundational interdisciplinary courses taught by expert faculty in medicine, allied health, and basic sciences, along with a year-long capstone graduate project in the community. Graduates are qualified for Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certification in the State of Washington, enabling them to work with children in the public school system without additional training.
The program offers a 12-month intensive Hand Therapy Fellowship, which includes patient care, didactic learning, and teaching opportunities. Fellows collaborate with hand surgeons, participate in weekly lectures, and have opportunities to teach in the UW MOT graduate program.
The Occupational Therapy program at UW benefits from its association with Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the region’s only Level I Trauma center. This relationship provides students with unique clinical exposure and opportunities for mentorship by experienced clinicians.
In the 2019-2020 academic year, the UW Occupational Therapy program awarded 24 master's degrees. Of these graduates, 91.7% were women, and 20.8% were from racial or ethnic minority backgrounds. The program emphasizes diversity and inclusion, aiming to prepare students to serve a wide range of communities effectively.

Although we could tier rank, over the past 25 years we've found no compelling benefit for ranking schools. Students are most successful when they prioritize personal and academic fit over school rank.
