This educational approach emphasizes student interaction in small groups, supplemented by didactic lectures, fostering critical thinking and collaborative skills. The faculty offers research-based postgraduate degrees in disciplines such as anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, and public health. Additionally, professional training is available in clinical disciplines including anesthetics, obstetrics and gynecology, radiology, psychiatry, orthopedics, child health, internal medicine, and surgery.
The Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex is equipped with modern teaching and research laboratories that facilitate practical classes and ongoing research programs. The complex includes a well-stocked Medical Sciences Library and a student computer laboratory providing internet and literature search facilities. Students have access to the Veterinary, Dental, and Medical Hospitals, which are maintained by the North Central Regional Health Authority. The main medical hospital offers generalist and specialist medical and surgical services, featuring 13 operating theatres, nuclear medicine, CAT scanning, and other radiological facilities, as well as intensive care units, outpatient clinics, and accident and emergency units.
