Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) is a private medical school in Kalamazoo, Michigan, established in 2012. It offers Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Science degrees. WMed operates as a collaboration between Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo's two teaching hospitals, Ascension Borgess and Bronson Healthcare. Although affiliated with the public university, WMed functions as a private, nonprofit institution under a separate corporate charter. Its funding sources include private gifts, clinical revenue, student tuition, and endowment income. In 2018, WMed achieved full accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).

Curriculum

WMed's MD curriculum emphasizes early and continuous clinical exposure, integrating simulation training from the first week and throughout all four years. The state-of-the-art Simulation Center, accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, ensures students develop proficiency in clinical skills. WMed operates six main locations within Kalamazoo and the surrounding area, including facilities within Western Michigan University campuses and affiliated medical institutions. The W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus serves as the primary medical education facility, featuring classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, a medical library, faculty and administrative offices, a fitness center, a 22,000-square-foot Simulation Center, and an auditorium.
