About the School

Western Washington University's Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) program is a full-time, four-year curriculum designed to prepare students for entry-level professional practice in audiology. The program received approval from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and holds accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).

Curriculum

The Au.D. curriculum encompasses three years of coursework and clinical practica, followed by a fourth-year externship. Students engage in evidence-based diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders across the lifespan. Additionally, students undertake capstone research projects, which are presented annually at the Au.D. White Coat Ceremony.

Facilities

The program is housed in the Academic Instruction Center East, a LEED-certified building featuring state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching labs, and research facilities. The on-site Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic provides diagnostic and rehabilitative audiological services, offering students practical experience under faculty supervision.

The inaugural Au.D. cohort began in fall 2017, consisting of five students who had completed their bachelor's degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Western Washington University. The program has since expanded, attracting students from diverse backgrounds committed to advancing their expertise in audiology.
