✅ Interview Preparation and Impressions

How is the friendliness of the admissions office?

How is the responsiveness of the admissions office?

How did you prepare for the interview?

I read though my secondary app., my essay, and current event dentistry articles. Walked around the school and area the day before. Also made a list of all the questions that were asked on studentdoctor.net and talked through answers to each of them. Found aspects about the school that stood out to discuss during interview. (this was my third interview, so I had some experience to make it a little easier)

What impressed you positively?

The friendly atmosphere, the location, the facilites, the research, the staff, the clinics, the pass/fail curriculum, the essay question, almost everything.

What impressed you negatively?

The student who interviewed me did not seem to excited to be there and I did not have much clue as to how well I did when interviewing with him. UCSF was slower than most schools when it came to interview invitations, and acceptance notificiation.

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

Nothing, I had researched this school pretty thoroughly before my interview.

What are your general comments?

The day was like my interview days. Everyone meets in the lobby and they take you to a room w/ breakfast where you get to know some of the other interviewees and get a slide show on the school itself. Then they gave us a ten-minute essay, which was pretty nerve racking being that it takes me forever to gather my thoughts and write an essay. I thought it was awful but I was accepted so it couldn't have been that bad. A financial aid slide show is given and then you are taken on your interviews. After interviews, they give you a coupon for lunch at the cafeteria (which is pretty good I might say). After lunch, you go on a tour of the campus, and then a brief closing is given and the day is over around 3 pm.
