What impressed you positively?

It has a Dent Sim virtual reality lab which was technologically advanced and uncomparable to anything I have ever seen at a school. It will definitely prepare you for clinical rotations. Penn has a great reputation to specialize (85% are matched to a specialization). However, if you don't want to specialze, go somewhere cheaper. It is right in the city, so you get a lot of patients, and Penn is known for its research if that is what you want (best of both worlds).

What impressed you negatively?

COST!!! Penn is very expensive. The one pre-clinical lab is pretty crappy. You think Penn, with all of its funding, would improve this facility, but it is really old.

What are your general comments?

Overall, interview was relaxing and school was very impressive. Never met the Nasty Lopez lady everyone talks about. Students were all down to earth and not snobs. Its reputation is excellent and you have great interaction with other Penn students from all the other graduate schools so you get to meet people outside Penn Dental. Honestly, don't sweat it and be confident in yourself.
