🎓 The Basics

Overall, how satisfied are you with this program?

8 out of 10

What was the zip code of your residence in high school?

81007

What do you like most?

The school itself is very supportive of their students. Once you are in, they seem to make sure you get through. This includes helping students through life events that were unpredictable/ unavoidable while allowing them to do what is best for themselves and their families. This school is extremely family friendly and students are really supportive of each other. There is no competition between students in pre-clinical or clinical settings so it is a great learning environment.

What do you like least?

The quality of the rotation sites is very hit or miss. Being a rural based school has its negatives when it comes to quality sites that have specialties available. I also dislike that we have no vacation time for interview season 4th year.

What are the facilities and clinics like (old/new, well maintained, etc.)?

The medical student facilities are a mix. The sim lab is very new but the anatomy lab is old. Everything is well maintained and clean

How do students from this program do after graduation - are they adequately prepared for practice?

I believe they do very well from my experience. Most interns from our school seem very ahead of those from other institutions.

What are rotations like?

Our rotations are variable depending on the location you choose. Many are placed in rural environments so the experience can change from year to year. There is several new sites that have been added that seem to have a good amount of success but only time will tell.

How do students from this program do in the Match?

Most people who enter the match seem to get in their top 3 choices. There is a large amount of primary care every year but there has been multiple ortho surg, derm, and gen surg matches every year.

Any other information you want to share?

Our school has been really supportive through the COVID-19 pandemic. We started receiving credit immediately from being pulled from rotations. I do think the electives have major deficits but they were also thrown together last minute so I will cut them some slack.
