✅ Interview Preparation and Impressions

How is the friendliness of the admissions office?

8 out of 10

How is the responsiveness of the admissions office?

7 out of 10

How did you prepare for the interview?

Practice/tips from others who interviewed at Iowa and were accepted. Various internet sources as well.

What impressed you positively?

The one on one time (or near that) with the staff.

What impressed you negatively?

Lots of downtime. Of the 3.5 hours, 1 to 1.5 hours of it was spent "chatting with other applicants."

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

Nothing really, even if I came into it without having a good idea of the interview questions it would have gone just as well.

What are your general comments?

I was very nervous for the whole event but they did everything they could alleviate that for me and everyone else. Everything seemed to be geared more toward getting to know you better than testing to see who was better.

What are your suggestions for the admissions office?

Maybe a little more time with the interviewers. More customized questions or even follow up questions. A little less boilerplate.
