✅ Interview Preparation and Impressions

How is the friendliness of the admissions office?

8 out of 10

How is the responsiveness of the admissions office?

8 out of 10

How did you prepare for the interview?

Read the viewbooks that Penn mailed me, looked over SDN interview feedback

What impressed you positively?

Students seem happy at Penn; Penn Dental is part of whole Penn campus which is historic and beautiful; opportunities in Philadelphia; school has changed curriculum so that 1st and 2nd years have more clinical exposure; students have a relatively good chance of being awarded one of the 25 half-tuition Dean's Scholarships; student tour guide seemed real, didn't hold anything back

What impressed you negatively?

D-1 and D-2 lecture halls and pre-clinic labs are in the basement of the building which has no windows and no cell phone reception; tuition is one of the highest in the country; cost of living in Philly is higher than where I'm from (midwest); school seems to push specialization over private practice

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

Previous respondents (like from 2007 and 2008) said the school plans on renovating the labs, well I can tell you I saw no renovations in progress and the admissions office did not give ANY indication they were planning to renovate (and it's almost 2011). Self-guided walking tour takes longer than the 30 minutes they give you.

What are your general comments?

Great interview experience, also lunch is VERY good! The area of West Philly did not feel like a bad area like other people said.

What are your suggestions for the admissions office?
