How did you prepare for the interview?

Read SDN, reviewed my mock interview notes, looked at essayedge.com.

What impressed you positively?

Dent-Sim lab was incredible. Faculty, staff were very friendly, helpful. Learning about the WHO collaboration, international externship opportunities as a 4th year.

What impressed you negatively?

Very busy, fast-paced campus. I was expecting a low-key, tranquil ''ivy league'' experience with classical music playing in the background and surrounded by gothic architecture, but being on campus is like being in downtown Philly. Not a bad part of town necessarily....just busy and loud.

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

That my interview would be so relaxed and conversational. I was literally only asked a few standard questions. Mostly, I felt like I was being gauged on my personality and my ability to converse. A very positive experience - I really enjoyed it.

What are your general comments?

The day begins with a presentation about the school, then a financial aid talk. There were about 16 or 17 of us, so they had to split us into groups - some groups get interviewed while others take a tour of the school. The interview, like I said, was very laid-back and conversational. As a matter of fact, I think I asked more questions than I answered. But my interviewer was very helpful and she answered my questions fully and honestly. The tour was nice too. Dent sim lab is amazing, the pedo clinic is very nice, and they are in the process of remodeling the endo clinic. After the tour, we ate lunch, then had a brief one-on-one meeting with Corky Cacas to make sure our files were complete and to address any questions we might have. They also give you a map of the campus and encourage you to walk around and see the university. I was tired and it was freezing cold that day, so my self-guided tour was brief.
