⭐ Overall Impressions

How did the interview impress you?

Positively 🙂

What was the stress level of the interview?

5 out of 10
0 = Low Stress, 10 = High Stress

What are your general comments?

Overall, everything was completely stress free until my faculty interview. My interviewer asked me a lot of tough questions and I had to say "I don't know" a lot. In the end, I think he was mainly trying to see how well I could communicate, and we talked a lot about random issues - Boy Scouts, Karate, etc. However, he did try to probe how much I knew about my research, how much I remembered about my biochem classes. It was a good mix of easy going conversation and tough questions. As long as you maintain your composure and don't flip out, you will be ok.
💬 Interview Process

What was the most interesting question?

If you were Governor of California, what would you do to change things?

How did you prepare for the interview?

Looked at this web site, thought about basic questions, looked at UCI's web site, read the AMA's web site - section on ethical issues

What was the most difficult question?

Asked me specifics of my biochem. lab (what was the structure of collagen?), etc.

What impressed you positively?

Friendliness of students and staff, how laid back everything was, 2nd year students were enthusiastic about interviewing us

What impressed you negatively?

Students mentioned that the classes (esp. the patient-doctor series) was not as well organized as it could be; Irvine is a sterile place.
