"PD knew about every applicant's research/experience prior to the introduction section and asked us about it that morning. A Chief Resident for the Day is assigned to the interview group and gives the tours, coordinates the lunch, etc. Ours was very helpful. The Sheppard-Pratt hospital is top notch, beautiful and the faculty there seemed very approachable. Other residents seemed very happy there. IM months are held at a hospital that only has preliminary IM residents so Psych residents feel more accepted and part of the team. Questions were low-stress. Very family friendly program."

"Great training facilities both at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Sheppard Pratt in the suburbs of Baltimore. Good exposure to a wide variety of patients. Strong in child and community psychiatry, plenty of opportunities to get involved with research if you desire. "

"Not much. The in-patient psych units at U Maryland seemed pretty run down. Some people don't like Baltimore, but I always found it eclectically appealing. I would have liked to have one more interview, two seems a little thin."

"The location in Baltimore may not be the most desirable for many applicants, but I like the area. It is also close enough that you can drive to DC within an hour. It is a large program with close to 60 residents total, so that can be both a benefit and a negative. "

"Light breakfast at 7:45 (eat at home too as lunch isn't served until 1pm after a long tour of S-P). Introductions by program director and Chair. Two interviews back-to-back. Then off to tour S-P and get an overview of your 4 years. Back to UMaryland for lunch with residents. Then tour of U Maryland. Then each applicant has a 5 minute wrap-up interview with the PD. Day ends at about 3:15."

"The program director and assistant program directors gave a nice overview at the beginning of the day. Then we had interviews with two faculty members. After that, took a van to the suburbs to visit the Sheppard Pratt campus which was beautiful and seemed like it would be a great place to train. Then came back and had lunch with a few residents. After that, we got a tour of the University of Maryland facilities. The day ended with individual brief meetings with the program director."
