School Info

Aureus University School of Medicine (formerly All Saints University of Medicine) is committed to providing students with a first-rate, affordable medical education. Situated in the heart of Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba, Aureus strives to produce broadly educated graduates who also recognize the social responsibilities incumbent upon practitioners of their noble profession. Aureus University seeks students who demonstrate a strong desire to succeed, coupled with an understanding of the compassionate and humanitarian aspects of the practice of medicine.

The 4 year MD Degree program consists of 2 years of basic science courses at the Aruba campus followed by 2 years of clinical rotation in the United States & Canada. The second year of medical school ends with the Introduction to Clinical Medicine program and enters into the third year to begin the Clinical Clerkship program. In the first two years of medical school, students focus on basic knowledge of health and disease and are introduced to the care of individuals and populations. In the third and fourth years, students become directly involved in the care and study of patients. They begin to work with members of teams caring for hospitalized patients. Third year students rotate through the following clerkships: 12-week rotations in Internal Medicine and Surgery and 6-week rotations in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology. The 4th year consists of 30 weeks of electives. The clerkship program is designed to ease the transition between the Basic Sciences and Postgraduate training by introducing the student to the many fields of medicine and enhancing both their clinical and diagnostic skills. The underlying concept is that the transition from pre-clinical to clinical studies involves both the development of pre-clinical skills and the achievement of the physician role.

Located in the capital city of Oranjestad, Aureus University School of Medicine has a beautiful and secure campus. The University has undergone rapid expansion in a short period of time and has acquired two permanent structures providing more than 20,000 square feet of classroom and laboratory space. Histopathology labs are well outfitted with the latest technology and equipment, and cadavers are available for dissection during anatomy sessions. Around the clock security is provided for student safety, and free wireless Internet access is available throughout the Aureus campus. The modern school cafeteria provides a variety of food and refreshment options, and there are lounge and gymnasium areas for student relaxation and exercise. The Aureus library is continually expanding and provides a wealth of easily accessible resources and services. More than 50,000 books, articles, and journals are provided for students via physical and E-Library media.

"The luxury to go to any professor for clarification about any topic or subject was amazing. Aureus definitely has amazing professors. School is located on an amazing, well developed, well equipped island, very safe." | Report Response

What do you like least?

"Proffs strive to make sure each student understands a topic, and therefore things can go a little slow." | Report Response

About the LizzyM Score

LizzyM, SDN Moderator and medical school admissions committee member, is the inventor of the LizzyM Score. The score allows you to see if you are a competitive applicant at a given school. If your LizzyM Score is far below or above the average, you may not be a good fit. If your score is far below, your application may be screened out due to numerical cutoffs. If it is far above, the school may assume they are your “safety” school and that you won’t attend if they offer an acceptance. This score should be used only as a guide to help you select schools and is not a guarantee of acceptance at any school. If you use this as your sole criteria to select medical schools to apply to, you don’t deserve to get in anyway.

About the SDN Ranking

SDN Ranking identifies how SDN members perceive the quality of a school relative to other schools of the same type (e.g., other Medical Schools, other Dental schools, etc.). Schools are ranked from 1, perceived as much worse than other schools, to 5, perceived as much better than other schools.
