School Info

In 1997, the School of Pharmacy was merged with the Division of Nursing and the Division of Allied Health Sciences to form the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CPNAHS) and Dr. Pedro J. Lecca was appointed Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Dean of the CPNAHS in 1998. Presently, Dr. Curry is the head administrator at the School, while Dr. Beatrice Kelly is the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.

Curriculum

The School of Pharmacy offers the Pharm.D program to be completed in four years after a minimum of two years of Pre-Pharmacy studies. Most of the admitted students have already graduated with a Bachelor's. Some students have Master's degrees, other Doctorate degrees, and many students have years of working experiences.

Facilities

Teaching facilities are located in the 4th Street School of Pharmacy Building. As well, many classes are taught in the Medical School Building. Lastly, the new constructed Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library houses useful research tools, and some classes are hosted there as well.

What are your suggestions for the admissions office?

"choose current students that actually represent the program well. students did not seem happy." More from this Member | Report Response

"I was invited to an interview at 10:00. NOWHERE did it mention an earlier time. I arrived 15 minutes early to find out I was actually fifteen minutes late. Another girl came when I did. We compared our letters with others and theirs had an earlier time than our letter. This was a disconcerting way to begin. When we took our math exam there was loud talking in the hall. If the objective was to see how well we handled ourselves under pressure then it was a good plan. If your object was to see what math we knew then perhaps it was not a good plan. My suggestion is to have a quiet test and be sure everyone has the same letter. Everything else was great." More from this Member | Report Response

"Longer time for tour around campus." More from this Member | Report Response

"Just more staffing at the time of my interview It seemed like only a few staff members carried the brunt of the whole admissions process." More from this Member | Report Response

"Provide the best professors for the interview process as all of the interviewers were MIA the day of the interview. I would suggest they do not schedule interviews on the same day as other pharmacy seminars or events are being held because the professors seemed preoccupied." About the LizzyM Score

LizzyM, SDN Moderator and medical school admissions committee member, is the inventor of the LizzyM Score. The score allows you to see if you are a competitive applicant at a given school. If your LizzyM Score is far below or above the average, you may not be a good fit. If your score is far below, your application may be screened out due to numerical cutoffs. If it is far above, the school may assume they are your “safety” school and that you won’t attend if they offer an acceptance. This score should be used only as a guide to help you select schools and is not a guarantee of acceptance at any school. If you use this as your sole criteria to select medical schools to apply to, you don’t deserve to get in anyway.
