How did you prepare for the interview?

Read SDN interview reviews, my application and the school website.

What impressed you positively?

very cool state-of-the-art simlab; my interviewer made me feel comfortable and like they wanted me; the UPenn campus as a whole is amazing, it was very nice that the dental school is part of the main campus; the main school building is a very nice historic building; they offered a nice breakfast, lunch was not too bad.

What impressed you negatively?

The presentations at the beginning of the day were a little off-putting... I was so taken aback that I started counting how many times they referred to Penn as "the leader," "#1," or "the premier dental school." It's an excellent school, but enough is enough. Some of the facilities are in the basement (apparently you spend your first 2 years down there) which was a little depressing.

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

They offer Dean's Scholarships which are half-off on tuition to their top applicants! They talk about a "One Medicine" approach, but it seems like it is just rhetoric. Whether or not that is a good thing is up to you... Of the three Ivy League schools, this is the largest and most clinically focused. You have to send them your transcripts from every school, seems a little redundant since AADSAS has them.
