Hi! Anybody out there sitting for the NPTE in October? I'm a recent May 2017 graduate (1st-time test taker) looking for a NPTE study buddy. I'm open to an in-person (I'm located in Atlanta, GA) or virtual meeting ideally once a week. Shoot me a private message or reply to this post if...

    Dropbox for PT School

Thanks for the great advice! Have you had to do any write ups? I had a grad school friend of mind mention grammarly and I am wondering if this service is worth me investing. Grammar is not my strong suit.

Current difficulties of finding a physical therapist to shadow

Have you tried reaching out to your local AHEC (Area Health Education Center)? They are all over the US depending on where you are located they may be able to set you up for shadowing. Their whole mission is to help develop and maintain health care professionals that will one day serve their...

    Emory RSPH - Fall 2013

Hi!! I'm entering Emory this summer for the DPT program. I found this thread by googling Loan in Excess + Emory. I received the same correspondence in regards to my 2012-2013 & 2013-2014 financial aid with a flagging stating NSDLS Loan in Excess. Have you gotten your issued resolved? I've...

Relocating to Atlanta...help with community college

I took my prereqs at Georgia Perimeter College. It's a CC in Atlanta with multiple campuses in Atlanta with great night and weekend options. Was able finish prereqs and work full time. Also had no probs with schools accepting the credits. Got into Emory and Mercer :-) hope this helps

    For Non-Trads: Things I Wished I Knew

Thanks for the input. I'm a non-trad student and start PT in June. I keep telling my friends/family I want to take a brief break between school and work. This validates my feelings. I apparently also need to read "Walking with Einstein" this is the 2nd time in a month that I've heard a PT...

    Atlanta Apartments –*Advice?

When I was at GSU I lived on campus all 4 years in the University Lofts. The Lofts offered housing to Student Scholars, Athletes, Graduate Students, and Students with Families. I don't know if you're interested in that. So unless things have changed drastically since I graduated in 2008, the...

    Atlanta Apartments –*Advice?

Hi! Have you decided which school you are going to yet? I'm going to be going to Emory but I went to GSU for my undergrad if that counts. If you are needing help, a good free service to apartment hunt is promove. They get paid based on the commission/kickback from the apartment complexes when...

    Pre-Requisite Classes at CC

While it does not matter what CC you go to, I would double check with the PT schools you are interested in to ensure they will accept the coursework from a CC. I haven't heard of anyone yet opposed to it or weighing it differently but I am a firm believer in research and making informed...

    the dilemma of a lifetime

Why not do a trial run this year? Live alone and see how you like it. If it turns out to be too costly or you find yourself missing interaction with other students find a roomie. I am personally going to do a trial run this summer for my living situation. I live alone about 25 minutes from...

Final transcripts being sent in after acceptance

It never hurts to contact the program and ask. Better safe then sorry. I hate surprises lol

Final transcripts being sent in after acceptance

Unless your school tells you otherwise you should be fine. When I was offered acceptance it was conditional and it specifically tells me I must get a C or above in my remaining coursework before starting the program.

    Need advice! Current business major

Hi Nihsnek! I was a business major in 2008 my undergrad and have been recently accepted into 2 PT programs and waitlisted for 1. The advice listed above I would say is spot on. Like you will need to do, I took post bacc classes to fulfill my prereqs. Since I've been working full time its...

Crazy thought but I was wondering if anyone else thought the same

I bet they could, but it a lot of man power and hours they don't have. As long as everyone is on their Ps and Qs we should be fine. But then again SDN did give the disclaimer that our posts are open for all to see (including potential schools & employers). My stats are out there and if someone...
