Pros/cons of taking a year off due to sick parent

Take the year off. I did not and my mom recently passed away. If I had taken a year off, I would have been able to spend a lot more time with her. My heart goes out to you, I know how hard this is.

    MD Working during Med school

For those who have asked where I work in my post above, you can find it here. I started in January working for them--its an online job. The job is basically reading medical journals, I've already learned a lot and I'm making about $250 a week doing very little. Hope this helps someone who...

MS4 from wake forest in HOT water!!!

I don't know, reading her tweet, it doesn't say she did this on purpose. Although, her language is a little suspicious. That said I have missed so many veins and had to try again..... Maybe she didn't mean it in the way it sounded. I hope so anyway!

MD For guys, what kind of shoes to wear on wards?

I like to ware the Dansko clogs. I mean, they are ugly as heck but once broken in there is literally nothing as comfortable. Plus if you are on surgery or something you can just wipe them off and disinfect them.

Asked for a LOR, attending said of course and to just tell him what i want it to say. What do

I think it is okay. Have them put their contact info and title in the letter, which they should do anyway. Physicians are busy as heck and I think this is the only factor that causes them to sometimes do this. When I was applying to residency I even had one who asked me to write the letter...

How to talk about 2 related prior misdemeanors?

I think you are OK. I got in no problem with a 10 year old shoplifting arrest (although no charges were ever filed). I didnt mention it on any application.
