First, start getting your college education. Get it at a good school and work hard to get you GPA as high as you can. Right now, people with3.9 GPA are being turned down for scholarships. Keep in touch with a recruiter to stay up on any changes to the requirements and processes.

That is correct. The AF is 100% manned for General Dentists. Unless you have a 2 year AEGD or 2 year GPR, the AF isn't taking applications. You can get in if you are a specialist or if you are accepted into a specialty program that we need.

None in the AF. You will need to be on active duty for a little while to get into endo.

Your undergrad GPA will carry the most weight. post grad isn't looked at as much as it used to be. They may not do the average anymore. I just found this out myself.

The only time I can say there was anything "different" for my family than when I was in private practice is when I deployed. Other than that, its about the same. You will move every 4-5 years.

They will look at both. The recruiting service has a formula they use to average them. retaking the DAT will be a good idea, but remember you want to score HIGH. Take the time to study and consider a study course for the DAT.

You'll have to ask your recruiter about this.

Hello everyone. Sorry for the hiatus. For some reason, I'm no longer able to log on at work and I wasn't able to log on at home. Got on today and see I'm behind answering questions.

I think you will need to be a citizen before you can apply.

Been answered quite a few times. That being said, you do not pay off any HPSP time while in the AEGD programs. Your payback for the AEGD-2 is concurrent with the HPSP though.

Must be a citizen to be commissioned. Right now the AF isn't taking any general dentists that are not HPSP recipients (except those having already completed a 2-year AEGD).

You can start without an acceptance letter, but cannot submit it without one. They will average your GPAs using some standard formula. If its not above the limit, you won't be able to apply.
