ill be honest with u..getting fm in cali is very hard..i would say its equivalent to getting em anywhere in the country right now. i know several people who got 240s on step 1 and got their 8th choice in fm in cali...anywhere else in the country ur golden, but cali is a beast of its own..try to...

Go with location, this is 4 years of your 20s...would suck to spend them middle of nowhere. ANY US MD or DO school will give you the opportunity to become the doctor you want to be if you are willing to work hard enough.

Be grateful you matched...I ranked 14 all in SoCAL, had normal scores, no red flags, and great letters...also for FM..i even had publications and I did not match! Thank god for the scramble..i think it was a really rough year for FAM in socal..i know several people who had 230-250 on step 1 and...

I dont agree with this one bit..the crappiest worst ranked program will give you the opporrunity to become a great doctor, at some places you just might have to put in more effort. There is no guarantee that you will match next year so if you are offered something, ANYTHING, this cycle you...

Our class is about 180... Yeah its crazy...the people who got screwed over where those trying to match out on the west coast ( regardless of specialty, FM/IM/PEDs and of course the ortho/derm/optho crowd

Sometimes bad luck leads to failure...many people who did not match in this cycle including myself had good scores, good letters, no red flags we just purely got unlucky due to the # of qualified applicants and not being very strategic when making our ROL....calling people failures is messed...

Situations like this make me advise everyeone to go DO vs Carribean ...I along with 20 of my unmatched classmates (who did not receive offers after the SOAP) were succesffuly able to scramble into spots...had we been carribean grads we would have been screwed. NEVER GO CARRIBBEAN! BAD BAD BAD...

What do you mean it wouldnt change anything? I put super competitive places where i had a tiny chance on top and my bottom was the crappy other programs where mot people with my scores ranked super high because they knew they were a shoe in..its tis how i got left without a spot

how many applicants do u guys think the programs contacted for every spot in the soap?? i feel like **** now..5 programs contacted me and not a single offer omg..am i socially awkward or something?

and yet again.. no offers ..this really hurts
