Is MPH worth the large debt?

It is not worth it. Public Health by nature is low paying, going to an expensive school is just going to add more stress to you when you get done. Im staring down $80k in debt from undergrad and grad school, and it is an elephant in the room when I consider jobs. Despite having decent...

Need a gut check. SD resident, 3.25 GPA, bad sGPA, 1 Pub

I have been on this road for the past couple years, and I need a gut check to explore if this is the road I should continue to go down. When I switched to pre-med, I knew it would be an uphill battle, but I wonder if its a losing battle. But, given my unique situation and my state of residency...

I can take a airtraq without gagging, although I only ever can see the arytenoids or just the epiglottis. I have also done this with a McGrath. I have yet to try the tube though You dont need no stinkin lidocaine, just go slow and steady until you get used to it. Also, 2% Lidocaine in a nasal...

    Walmart and Taxpayer money

IMO, the biggest problem is that no matter what system is set up, people are going to figure out how to game the system for their own profit... whether it is the homeless man or the billionaire. Capitalists will exploit any loophole they can, just as those that are reliant on public assistance...

Over the past year, Ive done study of farmers in South Dakota where I inquired about health insurance coverage and use of health services. While I did not find anything groundbreaking, one of the main findings I presented was the high prevalence of insurance among farmers, but those 50-65 have a...

I just listened to it. The points Atlas made were really good and I loved what you had to say, it was just a shame it turned into a liberal vs conservative argument that is common to shows like this. This bickering is why we dont make progress, and its a shame. I love that you are getting...

Out of curiosity, if a patient is looking for a cosmetic procedure, are those included? i.e. I had a mole removed off my head earlier this year because I shave my head. Do you have a limit on what patients can request procedure wise?

Is this type of practice economically sustainable?

Between this thread and the concierge FP thread, this makes me want to go into family practice. The idea of going back to a "rural doctor" type practice makes so much sense, and provides a way to actually care about your patients, and not have to please the system.

Thanks for sharing this article. I would love to see this model take off in the future, it seems to make so much more sense, and would help to cut some of the atrocious medical costs that plague our system.

    Time Cover Article

So a question for all of the attendings... If there was a theoretical public health system that everyone was covered within the public system, but still left a private option, that you could practice in the public sphere without fear of suit and with a low-end ED physician salary or would you...
